IMPACT OF SUSPENDED SEDIMENT ON PAHANG RIVER DEVELOPMENT USING GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEM

The measurement of different characteristics a stream, including integrated water resource management, is dependent on sediment transport mechanisms. On the Pahang River, studies explored spatial interpolation pattern suspended (SS) and management. Sedimentation issues in River have significant impact management basin. Furthermore, it may an local consumption, recreational activities, other factors, causing river to become shallow finally flood. This study was conducted determine SS with approach Geographic Information System (GIS) technique its colour based analysis. In addition, this also evaluates factors effects sedimentation through source Three sampling stations from Department Irrigation Drainage (DID) for three years (2000, 2004 2008) were selected along where parameter measured (ton/year). results obtained showed that receives high amount each year, higher at upper station (Sg. Yap), 1876575 ton/year (2000), 613850.1 (2004) 3458097 be affected by re-suspension runoff two outlets. Meanwhile, downstream (Lubuk Paku) received least SS, while midstream (Temerloh) most. transit's speed current impact. study's findings are critical especially resources domestic use, ecotourism, biodiversity, hydrology.
